Travel with Understanding: My Passion as a Certified Autism Travel Professional
Hi, I’m Karie Bedwell, a Travel Advisor with Magnolia Travel Group and a Certified Autism Travel Professional. As a Certified Autism Travel Professional, helping families create meaningful and joyful travel experiences is something very close to my heart.
My passion for children and families with autism is not only professional, but also personal. As the mother of a child with autism, I understand that travel can sometimes bring unique challenges. Every child is different, and things that may seem small to others, such as changes in routine, sensory environments, crowds, waiting, transportation, or simply being somewhere unfamiliar, can have a big impact.
Having a child with autism has helped me realize just how important it is for a travel advisor to listen, understand, and consider the individual needs of each family. My certification has given me additional knowledge and resources to pair with the personal understanding I have gained through my own family.
I truly believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and fun of travel. Whether that means experiencing the magic of a theme park, feeling the sand between their toes for the first time, setting sail on a cruise, or simply enjoying a family vacation where they feel comfortable and included, those memories matter.
My goal is to help families feel supported from the very beginning of the planning process. I want parents to know they have someone in their corner who understands that their child’s needs aren’t an inconvenience. They are an important part of creating the right vacation for their family.
